Anyone else feel like they are experiencing deja vu right now?

Masks, lockdowns, talks of mandating vaccines. Regardless your opinion on any of these things, it feels like 2020 all over again. It’s clear that we need to go back to the drawing board and boost up the only system that is built to work the most effectively, your immune system.

There are likely some who I may offend with that last statement, but it’s true. No medicine or drug can do what your immune system was designed to do.

If you take care of your body, get good sleep, exercise, and eat foods that truly nourish you, your immune system will take care of you in mind-blowing ways.

I’m not going to bore you with all the details on immune function, you can find that in my posts on elderberry, zinc, and sea moss. But I do want to give you some tactical tips to take care of yourself and your family. School is starting back up and people are headed back to work in person and our immune systems haven’t had to work much in the last 18 months. By staying away from others, we decreased the number of natural bugs/viruses/bacteria/fungi that we are typically exposed to. When not forced to fight off foreign invaders on a regular basis, the immune system actually stops working as well. To work to keep you healthy, it has be to be challenged.

Top Immune Tips

  1. Sleep. Not just hours, but good quality sleep. Having trouble? See my posts on sleep. I also have a fave new product I found while researching an essay during school. It has all the neurotransmitters and hormones needed to help you get to sleep, stay asleep, and wake feeling rested. You can find it here and search for Optimal Sleep.

2. Eat whole and fresh foods. I know, easier said than done. But if you can start your day with fruits (or veggies for that matter!), you are starting off strong! Our body needs the antioxidants and vitamins present in fresh fruits and vegetables to be able to fight off viruses and bacterial particles. Food first, supplements second. If you have imbalances, get sick a lot, or just want to ensure your body can fight off the onslaught of germs coming our way soon, then head to the next recommendation.

3. My supplement list. These are items we ALWAYS have and take mostly daily.

  • Vitamin D: supports bone and immune system health. VITAL for the function of your immune system. Just because you are in the sun, does not mean you are converting to vitamin D. It’s best to get a baseline of your levels via blood work and go from there for determining your dosing. Cod liver oil is the best food source but blech. So we do a supplement. See the end of this post for how to snag all my recommendations for 10% and free shipping!

  • Zinc: this has become a staple in our house. We take it daily as grown-ups. The kids will start taking this as we get closer to school starting. It’s a huge support to your immune system. You can read more about it in my blog post here.

  • Elderberry and Sea Moss: I lump these together because I write and post about them all the time. Make sure to check them out in our store and also read about them on our blog. They are a delicious and easy way to support your immune system.

  • MyCommunity mushroom complex: mushrooms are good for so many things, our immune system being one of them.

  • Zeolite: this is an excellent anti-viral/detox product. You can buy one through Wellevate or through the TRS website. Post coming soon with more info. All 4 of us take this daily.

4. Here is what we take as we are beginning to get sick or are sick:

  • Vitamin C: but more than is on the label. Take until bowel tolerance to actually support your immune system.

  • Quercetin: excellent as supporting immune health by providing loads of antioxidants and has been shown to protect cellular phospholipid membranes.

  • NAC: this has some controversy behind it (for no other reason than it’s been used to treat you-know-what relatively effectively). You can get this from my store (see below) and is excellent to have on hand for any respiratory illness.

  • Vitamin A: we use this when we think we might get exposed to someone who is sick (aka heading back to work/school in September).

  • X-clear nasal spray: this is a highly effective and not horrible for you nasal spray that will help defend you from viruses and bacteria entering your nasal passageway. We take this one when we are getting sick, but Jeff takes Ion Biome nasal spray daily, and I highly recommend it to protect dry nasal passageways and keep the nasal biome intact.

Phew! I know it’s a lot! Start with a few and build up your arsenal. You can shop my Wellevate Dispensary where you will get 10% off as my customer and client as well as get free shipping of $49. There are also tons of well-vetted health and personal care products for you to explore!

Here’s to you and your family’s health!
